An important thing to remember when buying a piping bag is that quality is  important. The material is put under a lot of pressure when in use and cheap ones have a tendency to split open which any cook will tell you  is a very messy and inconvenient experience. It’s much better to spend a little more in the beginning for peace of mind.

Poly Cotton : These reusable piping bags are usually made from a high quality, heavy weight fabric which has a polyurethane coating to prevent the contents from oozing through the weave. The good quality ones have a double reinforced section at the tip and double stitched seams.

Nylon : This style of piping bag is made from a pliable nylon material that some prefer as it offers a high degree of control and flexibility. You can create very intricate designs with ease. The good quality ones have several layers of plastic coating and are made of a one piece construction which prevents the possibility of splitting seams.

Disposable Piping Bags: Many people choose disposable piping bags because they are fuss free and eliminate the potential for health risks that are possible with other types of bags if they are not washed and rinsed thoroughly. They are also great fun for children to use when helping mum to ice cupcakes.
